Ive been really wanting to create an aquascape but i have never done this before at all. So i have some questions and wanted to know if anyone could help answer them/some.

I basically want to create the scape in 20/29 gallon tank, how hard is this to do? How do i filter an aquascape?! What type of substrate works the best for them, sand? dirt? clay? (no idea). Do most aquascapes have a canopy on them for the lighting, or how do i rig the lighting up for the plants to grow. What kind of plants are easy to work with for a beginner?

What should i have to monitor during the setup, and after the cycle? Do i need co2 and what does that do? Do you use a heating source because ive never seen heaters or for that matter filters in pictures?

As you can see, i'm a complete novice in terms of aquascaping. Although i have attempted to do this somewhat with fake plants in my current 20 gallon tank and my tetras seem to like it.

Any help would be amazing, thank you!
