Cukes Seeds and Pleo's

Okay, so I have an 8 inch Pleco that I am holding for my girlfriend until Jan. I have been feeding it cukes and the seeds tend to hang around the tank, on the gravel and in the filter. Related (or at least I believe so) is I have a problem with algae in my tank. I clean my tank and check the various things such as pH, etc and all seem to be normal (except for the pH which is a little high before a tank change). What is going on, I hear of other people feeding cukes to their pleco and having none of the problems I seem to have, thanks for the help.

You can de-seed it to avoid this problem. Cut cuke in half the long ways so you get two very long halves. Take a spoon and rip it down the middle. You have just deseeded a cucumer!

where is the tank?

Well I am living in a basement apartment right now, so the fish get very little direct sunlight but lots of light from the hood, of course.

are you removing the cucumber about every twelve hours or so?

Sometimes. I hate to say it but its a pain to have to go behind and vacum out the tank everyday. I am going to try and de-seed them and see how that works. I love my pleco, but feeding him/her has been such a pain.

A turkey baster is a great tool to have to pick out little bits of stuff without having to get your gravel vac out

Either deseed or remove anything that is left over in the tank.
