For anyone who has an algae problem on live plants, I can finally offer my experience on a product that worked very well for me. I had a brownish algae that was smothering my Myriophyllum Scabratums. I tried physically removing to no avail. Then I went to my LFS and found a product called AlgaeFix™. It is safe for both fish and live plants. After removing the carbon from my filter cartidge and 3 doses of AlgaFix™ over a period of 9 days the algae was completely gone! My plants that were being choked by the algae are now thriving - just an FYI for anyone that may have this problem...

Funny you should mention snails. For the 1st time I had one appear - about 1/4" in size. In fact, the snail appeared during the AlgaeFix™ treatment period. So it definitely is okay for snails. Snails are related to cephalopods and are classified as gastropods - the bottle makes no warnings about these so I assume it's okay.

I got the 'too much light' algae problem so i get green algae on my substrate and plants. I find the most thorough way is to get a dishwashing brush (not used for dishes ofcourse) and wipe it over the plants, the bristles pull of the algae then i do a water change. Algae kill products have never worked for me but i've got green not brown. thanks for the info all the same pyackel
