I was wanting to get some frontosa's but I am not sure if I have the room for them. I currently have a 55 gallon with mbuna cichlids. I plan getting rid of all of them. But, my question is will a frontosa be able to survive in 55 gallon, and if so, how many could I fit in there???? I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks!!!!*celebrate

yeah, i would agree. you really need a 100+ tank to do a decent frontosa tank.

still though, are you interested in any other species?

A. compressiceps or calvus are cool tang cichlids that are suited for a 55 gallon......you may check them out.

I am sure it would "survive" but why would you want to do that? Would you get a dog and keep it tethered to a post?

Aqualex recommends 600 litres minimum for fronts, there is a consensus that, to keep them successfully, you need to keep a group of 10 or more, raised from juveniles, in an absolute minimum of 120 gallons. I share Cichlid-Man's dream of having a front tank one day......one day....
