OK gross. BUT yeah, I suppose it would be as beneficial as dumping ammonia or more fish waste in...I can't imagine it would help THAT much. And besides...eww. :)

i dont think its that it contains bacteria...pee is supposed to be pretty sterile (unless your ill*SICK* ) but it is a form of ammonia so you could use it instead of store-bought ammonia for a fishless cycle...but ammonia is cheap enough that most people wouldnt think about doing it (and if they did, they sure wouldnt tell anyone about it*crazysmil )

oh and i almost forgot....ewww

Wow.

if you cycle your tank with healthy goldfish, you will have few problems providing you pay attention.
some will use a dead shrimp in the the tank for a few weeks and let the bacteria start by its self.
some pour pure ammonia in.

but before you go to the extreme of using your own or your friend's urine, or even yer dog's , ... consider all alternatives first.

Plants can start the cycle too.
it all depends on how much time and patience ya got.
