Cycling with a Gourami?

Can you cycle a tank with a Blue Paradise Gourami?

A blue gourami or a paradise fish (sometimes referred to as paradise gouramies)? Paradise fish were one of the first fish kept in aquariums and have always tended to be pretty hardy. I am not sure if that remains the rule. They also tend to be pretty aggressive. I thought you said your tank was being fish-lessly cycled and near the end of the cycle.

Thats the one tank I'm getting to become a gourami tank but this is going to be a Red wag Platy tank but my platy are only fry.
