Anyone have these, or have experience with them? I saw some listed on Aquabid and was thinking about getting them but couldn't find much info on them. They would be going into my 38 gallon tank with Pseudotropheus sp. Flamebacks. Or would the Metriaclima Zebra "Chilumba"s be a better choice?

I'm just wondering about the size of them though, because I can't find any profiles for them. I don't want anything too big, but I don't want anything too small either because of the flamebacks. I'm hoping to have my slate caves done this weekend and get the tank all setup, so that I can have the fish delivered on Wednesday when I am off. I just can't make a decision!!!!!!!

Yep, I just bought 6 Cynotilapia Afra "Hai Reef"s. I emailed the guy to see if he has the Flamebacks too, but I doubt it.

I was debating between Afra Cobues or Lab Mbambas, but I just happened to look on Aquabid today and found these guys, so hopefully they will be as purty as their daddy :)

This will give me a reason to finish the tank too. It's been just sitting here empty for a month, with the wedding and all I just didn't have time to do anything with it. I've got some flagstone sitting on the backporch, a matabo to cut it, and some aquarium-safe silicone so I should be able to get it done this weekend :D

I'd go for the flamebacks.

Chances are they should be fine. They probably run across each other in the wild sometimes. Hai Reef is right up from the Mozambique border where the flamebacks are usually found. If Hai Reef afras don't run across flamebacks in the wild, some kind of afra does no doubt.

Comes down to making sure, once they mature that you have a good sex ratio and a good bit of rockwork.

I know Jeff, I'm excited :)

I just worked out a deal with him to get 10 hai reefs. He said they are still growing out, but they will be going into a tank by themselves so they should be fine. Hopefully this way I will get a good m/f ratio.

I haven't started on the rockwork yet, but I'm planning on having it cover the entire back wall and slope around the corner of the tank. It will have lots of caves and crevices, as well as a couple long skinny caves for a bristlenose or two :)

My fish are on the way :D :D :D

And we are still working on the rock structure, but should have it finished by tomorrow night. I'm hoping to have everything in the tank tomorrow night so that it can run all night with 5 white clouds and my bn plec.

????????
The tank has been empty for over a month now, but the filter still had water in it. We dumped the yucky water out of the filter, but didn't empty the canisters that held the 'mulm'. We then filled it back up with fresh water. Do you think this will be enough bacteria to prevent a cycle? I'm going to be adding 18 1" fish at one time, and I don't want to lose any of them.
