damn i lost one of my original 8

and i mean lost,blue zebra no where to be found.will the others eat one in a day?,ive looked everywhere

I don't think i have ever found a dead fish in my tank, funny thing is though that i am definitly missing some fish. So either they went and Pulled a finding nemo on me and went down the toilet or something or they died and the other fish ate them.

So far i have lost 4 fish with no sign of them... EVER.

What are the specifics on your tank? Size, how many fish and what types (chichlids but what kind of cichlids?) Also the size of the cichlids.

Do you complete weekly water changes?

Cichlids are very territorial fish. Some way more than others. If one cichlid is bothering another cichlid, or is going to close to his "territory" they will fight and they will more or less fight to the death.

ive got a pretty mellow 55 gal

ive got1 red zebra(had two one died of bloat)2 blue zebras(just lost one of these)i noticed the other zebra has been jacking with him lately,i got 2 yellow labs,1 johanni,and two im not sure what they are.ive got there names in my file

zebra's can be pretty agressive. I ahve one red top zebra and he is the big kahunna of the tank. Everyone listens to him because what he says goes.

Is there a big size difference between the fish? my zebra is the biggest and he makes sure that everyone knows that. If any of my other fish try to size up to him, which they do all the time he fights with them.

Anyways, What are you water paramaters at and how often do you do water changes?

Yes, they will eat in one night. Thats when they seem to do most of their fish eating anyways.

thats interesting I had lab turn up missing then I found the bones the next day. I think when the lights go out and everyone is asleep a couple of my fish aim for world domination
