Last night right before I went to bed I noticed my Tropheus Moorii was sitting on the substrate almost motionless, using only one fin. Tested the water, all usual - 0,0,10ish. Even tested ph 7.8 - same as usual. All other cichlids behaving completely normal, full of energy, eating, swimming in the current. He was always very active, never got picked on.

I asked my wife to keep an eye on him while I was at work today and when I got home she told me she had to net him out. I don't know what could have happend.

One thing I am suspicious about is the breed. He is the second moorii I have purchased from petsmart. My first was maybe 9 months ago and same thing. One day I noticed he was only using one fin and the next day he was dead.

I looked into bloat, but he had no symptoms of it. He was a voracious eater of the veggie pellets, the only meat he would have encountered would have been in the aqueon pellets. I just don't think bloat was the cause of death here.

My other tanganykans are doing great so PH I don't think is a concern either. He was always active and happy anyway.

Very confused.
