Was looking on craigslist and found a 46g bowfront w/oak stand for $100. Owner said it was only 1 year old and is only parting with it because he upgraded to a 100g. Sounds like a great deal to me. I know they don't give away bowfronts in the LFS. What do ya think? Deal or No Deal?*BOUNCINGS

Oh the wife will LOVE that tank. My 46bow is my favorite tank. Its so versatile with how many choices I have to put fish in it, plus its just a PRETTY tank. I'd snatch it up for $100, I paid more than three times that getting mine new a few years ago! If it comes with anything else, even better. The spot in the middle of the stand underneath is perfect for a canister filter :)

one good thing is that I over did it when I bought filter, heater, lights for my present aquarium and all that stuff should be fine for a 46. I even have some more gravel. I should be able to just switch everything from the 29 to the 46 (including the water) add a little more gravel and it would just be like a major water change. Right? I think. That is if I can even snatch it up before someone else does.

Yep, you could just switch it all over. Wouldn't even need to move the water over if you didn't want to. Only need to make sure that chlorinated (or really hot/really cold) water doesn't get into your filter.

Excellent! Getting 'clearance from the tower,' as IDunnoWhy always puts it, is more than half the battle! :p

I've found that getting "clearance" almost always costs me more, than what I was buying in the first place.

But back to your topic, yup that sounds like an excellent deal (so long as it doesn't leak :p )

Now that you've received "clearance" were gonna see some pictures right? *crazysmil

Ah you can have someone walk you through the picture thing and it'll make a lot more sense after doing it once. and check out the FAQ on pictures at the top of the rate my tank section, there are some good clues in there also.

Good luck with getting it!! "cash in hand" is a pretty powerful phrase :)

We have lift off!!!! I am the proud owner of a 46g bowfront. I will be storing it at my parents house until we move sometime in the next month. There was an unforseen bonus, a wisper HOB came with it. The tank and are in great shape. Just a small chip in the lid. I will be starting a new thread sometime in the future for my questions and to get suggestions.
