Death of a LFS

Well, I took a trip to what was once one of the most reputable fish shops in my area today Paradise Water Gardens.  While it still exists (it's not out of business... yet), it now looks like a fish shop that is run even worse than a Wal-Mart or Petsmart!

They used to have the heathiest stock of fish and plants in the area, and now...  I've never seen so many fish with ich, nipped fins, and plants with dead decaying leaves

And then there's the PARROT CICHLIDS.  God I am so against any shop that sells these poor abominations.  It's not the fish's fault some ignorant jerk thought it would be a good idea to mix two fish, and allow what resulted to live, and eventually breed more of 'em.  Colorful, yes... healthy, NO!

This leaves me with exactly ONE reputable fish shop to frequent.  This stinks so much, because now I'll NEED to order my plants via mail order, which is fairly risk free, but I kind of like to see exactly what my money is giving me, rather than being "surprised" when I open the box.

Truly a dark day... :'(

Which goes back to the Wal-mart superstore thing.  They can't stay in business if nobody does business with them.  We just lost one down here, too.  They had the coolest palludarium in the front of the store.  Damn shame.
Now we only have 1 fish store down here worthy of the name, and I try to get a little something from him every month or so.  It doesn't amount to much, but I want him there next time I want a farrowella or something.

Well I used to only have one good store around me but there has been another one open up and they have a really great selection of stuff and I always find something I want in there! I guess I am lucky. I try to buy something from both as much as I can but I don't hardly ever get into town to do it. I just don't want to see either one go out of buiseness anytime soon. :D
