determining size of tank

real quick does anyone know how and could explain real quick on how you configure total gallons by the measurements?

ok what im meaning like a 55g i know is 48x2x2 but how do you convert that all in gallons? what do you times all numbers and divide by a number what?

55 gallon

48.25 x 12.75 x 21 = 12918/231 = 55

Sorry, I gave you the formula.

48 inches*12 inches*21 inches = 12096
12096/231 = 52 gallons

so you use divide by 231 for every size then, correct or no? the reason im asking is i found what may be a 40 or 30 online but they dont know size of gallons so when they finally tell me size measurements i wanted to do the math to see if its worth $50 for the tank only. i dont think it comes with light bar or lid and no filter

Yes. add up all the dimensions and then divide by 231.

HAHA this lady is trying to sell a 15g with a cheesy stand, no lid, no pump, no light nothing but the tank itself, some nasty looking rock and the stand all for 50. i could go to petsmart and get a lot more for that price. shes crazy
