I was looking up stuff on how to clear up cloudy tanks and came across this. From what everyone tells me, I have a bacterial bloom. Thing is, I actually see really tiny white particles floating around. Do these things help at all? anyone ever use them or are they just a waste of $100?

Honestly I would leave it alone. The Bloom happens for a reason. I used the Top Fin Bacteria Supplement and with in hours my tank was cloudy. It take a couple of days for it to clear up. Are you adding Anything to the water?

Back to your question I thought that diatom filter were moe Salt water them any thing.

when you say tiny white stuff? i am wondering if you have a air stone in the tank? i have one and i get the micro bubbles.
a diatom filter can filter out micro particles and polish the water really good, but you dont run it for a long time. it can actually hurt the good bacteria.

i have one and its good. but i find that a large WC does just as a good job in clearing things up. if its something floating in the water.
