i guess this goes under equipement...
i was looking through classifides, and found a guy willing to sell a 135, and a 55 gallon aquarium, and stands for both for $275!!!!!!! awesome deal... i dont know if i will get them yet, because i dont know the condition, we are probably going to look at them sometime this week, or maybe over the weekend. i hope my mom will let me keep the 55... my plan was to move contents of the 12 into the 29, and 29 fishies into 135... but maybe i can move 29 into 135, and 12 into 55, and get rid of the 29, and 12... i hope thats what will go down. would large HOB, and a canister filter be enough for the 135? i really dont want to do a sump. would a large HOB only be fine for a 55? i hope everything is in good condition. btw... its around 5 watts of heat per gallon right?

A sump is one of the best forms of bio-filtration you can get. So it's going to depend on the fish load as to what types of filtration would be good. For a light-medium load, A large HOB and large canister would work, but in the end it may cost you more time doing water changes.

If your going to get the tanks so cheap, then I would try to spend the money saved on some excellent filtration. I know that fluval has come out with a trash can sized canister filter (not really, but it's pretty big).

I know that you've expressed some interrest in Tanganyika cichlids, and a 135 would make an awesome tank for a colony of fronts. I've never kept them due to lack of anything large enough to keep them in, but they are quite beutiful, and you may want to look into that. I would.

Personly I don't like to rely on a single filter to do it's job in larger tanks, so even for a 55 I would think about either running two HOB's, or an HOB and a canister. But agian, that's only my opinion and I have a habbit of over doing things. I have a fluval 404 and rena XP3 on my 75 gallon so....

me and my parents had a fight last night, and they said i cant get the tank until my attitude goes away... (what attitude?) anyways, i hope he still has them in a couple weeks. the clown knife in my 29 will be going into the 135, and hopefully, maybe, if im lucky, my female bettas are going into the 55... if i can keep it. or maybe i can get rid of them, and use the 55 for cichlids. i would use the 135 for cichlids, but i think my knife needs it more.

I remember those days. ;) Look back on this in about 15 years when you have you own kids and say (What attitude) ;)

Hopefuly you can get them to forgive you before they guy sells them to someone else, and just a tip I learned from when I was your age....don't piss the parents off when you want something. *thumbsups

i usually try that... but my dad asked me what i did that day and i saidi went to school, then i went to first hour then i went to second hour...etc. and he goeswhy cant you just give me a strait answer? a few words were shared, and he said i couldnt go to youth group... i dont think that taking away a persons religion is a suitable punishment(where are we? cuba?), so i walked to youth group... via the back gate. thats when they decided about the fish tank. i think they should have done that first. i dont blame them for the fish thing though. my mom also said she would smash all my tanks if i i didnt come back... it sucked. anyways... a couple weeks and i should be able to call that guy back.

eh, it's not that they are taking away your right to worship, but more that they were telling you that you couldn't go as punishment because it was something that you enjoy. And since you did it anyway, I can see how they would be upset. lol, all teenagers have an attitude ;) It comes with the teritory.

When I was around 18 I got into a fight with my father. A real fight. Him being an old man I hate to say that I won. That was years ago and I broke a couple of his ribs and to this day I still feel so bad for that and it started over nothing. We do stupid things when we are young, and we still do them as we get older. lol. Best thing to do is to try to learn from them and go on.

Good luck and I hope your able to get at least one of the tanks!

um, I agree with Orion..telling you, you can't go to youth group is not taking away your religion. You enjoy going there so it was a punishment and then leaving after you were told you couldn't go...you rather deserved the punishment you got.

Orion--Is your relationship with your dad better now that your an adult?

Actualy angelmom it is. I think the fact that I hurt him made us both realize that I wasn't a kid anymore. We both had very bad tempers, and we both flared them that night, and after that I think we both have been able to control them better as a result.

We meet for coffee several times a week after work and talk often. I'm closer to my Father now than I ever was when I was growing up.
