Difference between corys and catfish?

What is the difference between corys and catfish? I have 2 upside catfish, are they corys? Also why do peope type pl*co for pleco? Thanks

cories are a type of catfish however upside down cats are not cories even tho they to are a type of catfish

the pl*co thing is net superstition...supposedly if you type the word pleco, your pleco will die...so people replce the "e" with a " * "
