what type of equipment do i need?
and is it really expensive?
at the moment i have a 4ft with an oscar and my girlfriend wants to buy me a 2ft as one of my christmas presents, i was thinking of moving the oscar to the 2ft when i get it as my oscar is only about 3 inches,

Lets see...saltwater is not as hard as it was about ten, maybe even five years ago. Cost will depend if you go fish only or reef. Reef is way more expensive. Either way you will want a protein skimmer, some light (fluorescent, power compact, VHO, metal halide, etc.), live rock, live sand. There is a thread around here somewhere that tells you everything you will need.

If you research and work out whats going on it's easy. Plunge in and try to wing it as you go along, difficult and expensive.
If you like glorified science projects you will be laughing
