digging

my parrot cichlids are digging little holes in the substrate and sometimes lay in them. what do they do this for??

All cichlids dig.......its the cichlid way.

Its just what they do. Some cichlids lay eggs then dig a breeding pit in the substrate which keeps the fry in once they hatch.

But most cichlids dig just to dig.
