Due to the arrival of some babies in the tank I built a homemade filter (90 minutes or less to make) to help with the additional load that the bacterial media will have to deal with...

Requirements :

  • 1x Submersible water pump (300 Liter per hour or higher)
  • 110mm PVC pipe
  • 2x PVC 110mm end caps
  • Filter mat

The gaps around the power cable and water pump nozzle can be sealed with either a hot glue gun (quick fix) or with marine silicone (allow to completely dry before use)

The pictures should explain how to make this very simple water filter which and can be used as a temporary or permanent filter

At this stage the filter is just standing on the bottom of the tank but suction cups can be added should you want to mount it higher up in a corner
