do i need a heater?

I have a 10g, and i've been using the light on the top to warm it for my mollies, they've been pretty good, but i'm wondering if i need to get a heater instead of using the light.

What should i do?

Yes, you should probably get a heater. Do you know what temperature the water drops to overnight? You should always turn off the light for at least 12 hours to allow your fish to rest, don't keep the light on all the time.

Ok, cool. The tank drops to like 70 at night, it's usually at 72-76 during the day. Hey, on my other thread, i asked if i could get a 20g and buy 2 more female mollies, then move all 6 into that tank, and get guppies or something for the 10g, would that work?

Tropical fish should be kept around 74-78F, so they are getting a little chilly at night.

Yeah, i'll have to ask my mom to take me to wal-mart and get a heater tomorrow, they're probably cold.

Yeah, i have kinda grown attached to my mollies, and i dont really want to replace any of em.

How about a Visi-Therm Automatic Aquarium Heater. I have one in my 10 gallon and i got it from walmart so it should be there.

the general rule is 5w per gallon - so if you have a 10g tank get a 50w heater. I would suggest one that is fully submersible, vs the type that hang on the back of the tank.

umm for my heater i have a whisper 5-15 it works great but dont turn it to the middle setting like it tells you to theat over heats it turn it to inbetween that setting...i hope you get what your lookinf for...n=my tank stays at around 78.

For your 60 gal , you could use 2 200 watt on each end of the tank.. That is what I do for my 55 gal*GOLDFISH*
