I woke up this morning and my black mystery snail was nowhere to be found. I have a hood on the tank so it could not have climbed all the way out. I also don't have any fish yet that could have eaten it. Do they hide in the gravel? If it did it's done a really good job hiding itself, the gravel looks undesturbed.

Ours goes into a small cave we have and gets up on the ceiling. If we don't flip the cave over then we can't see it when it's in there. I've never had mine dig into the gravel, but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

I believe they can be out of the water for up to a week, so make sure that you check the floor around your tank, just in case. Other than that, just keep looking. He has to be there somewhere.

Good Luck!

just for the record, mystery snails dont bury themselves under the gravel, the only snail that i know does that is the malaysian trumpet snail, but i'm sure there are many others.
