I am in the process of planning out a 50 gallon tank I'm going to build out of plexiglass. What I have been looking for is a submersible water pump that pumps 200gph and (heres where I have been having trouble) is inline... Everything I have been finding on E-bay and while scouring google is for fountains or powerheads..and that wont work, and if I actually find anything inline its up in the 800gph range which is way too much flow..

Im not sure if they make the inline pumps as small as 200gph, but you could try bigals and drsfoster and smtih. Ive looked at several different pumps, and I've seem some inlines in there before. Like I said, most are well over 200gph.

Thanks for the link Ty, but I only need a pump, not the whole filter..
I checked on big als again Orion, and I think I found one that will work..Its 30 bucks though so hopefully i'm not wrong..
here it is . I had to look the specs for a bunch of their pumps up online through other sources since that has absolutly no desription on it at all.. Wish me luck.. haha

Thanks for everyones input.

http://www.eheim.com/ do a range of pumps that fit the bill - I use one myself - they are fully submersible, the input is via a hose connector on the back, and the output is another hose connector on the top. there is the usual fountain attachment - but simply throw it away - screw in the supplied hose connectors, and you're away....

as purple mentioned, eheim makes a submersible pump....as do many other manufacturers...out of curiosity, if you are going to plumb it inline, why does it need to be submersible?

http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_powerheads_pumps__index.asp?CartId=

you might find something there you can use also...there are a lot of products on the market for the reef community...remember to take into acount how many feet up you need to pump that water when you decide on gph

Thanks for the links you guys. this one looks good for the range I'm looking for.. too bad bigals doesnt carry that model.. I was curious though, is that tube sticking out the intake? or is it where the water comes out? I would like the intake to be via a tube like purple described..
Camaro, I guess technically I don't need it inline.. I just want the input to be via hose.. and I don't want it to shoot out in a jet how powerheads do..so I said inline though I have since found out thats the wrong term.. sorry about that.

no worries...was juts confused...the tube on top is the outlet, the inlet is probably not something which is exposed or can be attached to directly...a lot of these pumps simply use a plastic grate over an impeller for their inlet...if you want to be able to attach tubing to both ends i would look at the magdrives http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=DN1121

i have one of these....great pump in my opinion...cost a little more, but well worth it

Man, I was afraid of that.. Anytime I find a pump for a good deal its like that.. haha
That magdrive is a little too much flow for what I need so I guess I'm back to square one with the one from bigals...Its a dolphin and I have heard they are decent pumps.. Thanks for all your help it is very appreciated.
I'm excited though, I got a hold of the glue I need for the plexi, and I am going to start on the cuts tommorrow. I will be starting a thread in the DIY section showing my progress on this project. :)

The Eheim hobby pump input end is just a plastic grill with a sponge behind it - but if you take that off, you can then thread the (supplied) hose adapter into the input and away you go - i'm wondering how many others look like a grill input but are in fact adaptable - might be worth asking the suppliers...

I'll have to find the url for the one I have - that link you posted is different

Purple.. I E-mailed Marine depot asking is their Eheim1000 can be configured to use as you described.

Turbine , I had seen that model in my searches but wasn't aware it could be set like I need, I have also E-mailed Kaylk to make sure that model functions the same way you desribed the bigger one you have does.

Thanks for the tips guys.. It has helped alot.
