does my snail need a new shell?

I've had my saltwater tank and snail for several months now but i have no idea if he needs a new shell! Does anyone know how to tell if it needs one? This may sound stupid but is there anyway to tell how old it is too? I'm open to all suggestions! Thanks!

there's no what kind about it...snails grow their own shells. it's part of their body. no need for offering shells for it to "move" to...it can't.

as dethjam said, snails grow their own shells...crabs on the other hand move into new ones...
