Does Specific Gravity = Salinity Value?

This is probably a stupid question...

I dont have the hydrometer on hand, but will the salinity always be equal to the SG? For instance, if the SG is 1.025, then the salinity will always equal 34ppt? Or can the SG be 1.025 and the salinity 25ppt?

SG varies with temperature as well as salinity, and more than a bit too. Decent hydrometers are calibrated to a temperature, which nowadays is normally 25.
