Sorry forgot some important info

It is a 55gallon on the top and a approx 25 on the bottom, the 1700 I estimate will be pushing around 350 GPH

In the first section it is filled with cheap pot scrubbers all plastic the second section is filter floss and the third is going to be for charchol and the like and in between each is a thin green pot scrubber thing

alright, i guess those scrubbers are for bio? well they should come last i believe, first mechanical (filterfloss) then chemical (charcoal), the bio (scurbbers). Also i dont see how the filter floss will effectively remove waste, cuz it appears it can move around it. If possible a disagram of water flow would help out.

hmm looks pretty good cept i still tink the filter floss and scrubbers are in the wrong place cuz the scrubbers will probly hold most of the larger particles, making the floss kinda useless. hmm thats one beef

the other is the 3 chamber and how the flow get to it, see if media is placed in there, the water is not forced to pass through it, it probly be more effective if could rise up and over flow to the chamber with the rio pump.

Sory if im seeming harsch but jsut my perspective on this, tryin to help to the best of my knowledge.

with all overflow sumps there is enough room for the water to level off after the return pump has shut off. your sump looks as if it is full and will over flow when it is off.... unless of course you took the pictures with the pump off.

I think you should scrap the filter floss and get one of those filter pads they use in the store bought wet/dry... the one with the dimension of a 2x4
