Hi Everyone!

As some of you may know, I have a Dojo loach in a 55g tank (along with a few assorted goldfish). Up until now this tank has had a gravel substrate, but my Dojo didn't seem to care for it, so I've decided to switch out the substrate for a sand bottom. I performed the switch last night and the fish are in a spare 20g until the sand settles some, I hope to have them back in the 55g tomorrow night.

Now the question....

My Dojo has damaged some of his "whiskers" attempting to burrow in the gravel. :( Aside form the missing/damaged whiskers he appears to be in good spirits and is eating well.

Will he re-grow his whiskers? I know fins regenerate, but I wasn't sure about this.

Any thoughts?

Mine had the same thing happen, all of the wiskers did regrow but one did not. he wore it down to the point where it was almost non existant. now he has just a slight nub where the one was worn down.

I have 2 dojos...and I use regular substrate such as flourite..and while the whiskers do grow back they dont seem too bothered by it..they borrow to search for food and as long as they re healthy I wouldnt worry about it too much
