I found a very nice root for a new tank. I placed it in to a tank and filled the tank with water in order to start the water logging process. After about a week, a grayish fuzzy hair-like coating began to grow on the wood. It sort of looks like moldy bread. What is this stuff?
The only thing in the tank is wood and water with a hob filter to keep the h2o moving. Nothing else (except for the mystery gunk). So I can use just about any means to get rid of it as there are no fish, plants, or bio filter to worry about.
Any ideas?
