Dropsy contagious?

I had two neon rainbowfish die one after the other recently with what appeared to be dropsy. All bloated, quit eating and just died. A few days ago my largest angel fish appears to have the same symptoms and I fear will not last long. I have medicated the entire tank with Marcylyn 2. I did not think dropsy was contagious? Could it be something I am missing? The tank parameters are all well within normal range. I have two tanks and this is the only tank with fish deaths. Thanks for any thoughts.

Dropsy is a symptom, not a disease in itself. Dropsy is a sign of internal organ failure. If you're seeing it in several fish, it's likely you have an internal/systemic bacterial infection in your tank.

Unfortunately, by the time you see the symptoms, it's often too late for the fish.

Keep treating the remaining fish for at least one full treatment cycle of Maracyn Two. It might be a good idea to do a second treatment, per the instructions on the box.
