I still think that giving them a special treat of live food wouldn't hurt.  Also I didn't think that corys ate all that much algae.  I could be wrong, but just a thought.  Try around with different foods.  Maybe you have a bunch of picky eaters on your hands.   :)

I have 2 Dwarf Corys and they don't seem to be eating.

They seem to spend a lot of time around my broken down thing in the middle of my cage.

The only other fish I have is 5 zebras. I am feeding them tetra flake twice a day..

I have some little round algea disc but the corys are not eating them and I have to take them out. The instructions say on feed them what they will eat in 2 hours. They eat none of it.

How can I make sure they are eating and should I be trying something else....??

Cheers

I was looking through this forum and saw that your post hasn't been answered yet.

Anyway, how long have you had your fish?  Did they used to eat good before?   If you just got them you have to give them some time to settle in before they eat normally.  But a good way to get about any picky eater to eat is live foods.  Try some worms, like blackworms.  Cut the bottom off of a styrofoam cup, fill it with some of the gravel so it will sink, and then stick some worms in it.  Corys love to dig these things out.

Lethargic fish though could mean their sick, or water quality problems.  My fish always purk up after a good water change.   *thumbsupsmiley*

Thanks for the reply..  *twirlysmiley*
I've had my corys 2 weeks now and they still only seem to eat algea from my rock in the tank....

They seem to be fine otherwise and are quite active....

Is this just normal? am I worrying for no reason?

Cheers

i just had a small panda die on me and it botherd me very much.when i looked over it's corpse it seemed that it hadn't eaten recently.the night before the cory looked as though it was having trouble getting food in it's mouth.and then i wonderd if i should have fed him some baby brine shrimp,or liquafry, something real small to fit in it's mouth.it's too late for my fish but not yours, maybe hikari micro pellets soaked and droped in front of them.also don't forget that they are probably real busy at night when you aren't seeing them root for food, most catfish are noctural(like me)and may seem real inactive during the day.try a feeding after lights out and see what happens.also you could be underfeeding and not enough food ever reaches the bottom of the tank. hope any of this helps.

Cories don't really seem to relish algae wafers. My green ones prefer Hikari sinking carnivor wafers, the Tetramin bottom feeding pellet, and Wardly shrimp pellet.  They might not seem to be eating because, like CatfishMike says, they're glutting themselves at night.  Also, if they seem content to nibble on the stuff already growing in your tank, then that could be why they ignore the algea wafers you place in the tank.  Also, try smaller bits of food, and place that food in a weighted cup. Sometimes cories have a hard time digging stuff that has fallen between grains of gravel. I had a tupperwear lid in my tank that I placed bottom foods on for the longest time so that the cories didn't have to root it out. It also makes for a cleaner tank.
