I may get him a female or two, but any other options? 4 gallon heated, planted aquarium. ( I have one of the lights that sits above the tank with no hood, so don't think I should put a african dwarf frog in there) thanks

I don't see why you can't get a frog. I've never had one that even attempted to jump/escape. Otherwise, maybe a few guppies or dwarf platies? An oto?

I would love a frog, but I have had three frog deaths and I don't feel very confident with them. The last one I had even sang at night... I have read that they can escape. I would like to know if that's wrong....

well i guess it could, but it would have no reason to escape, as they are fully aquatic frogs and should never want to leave the water.

also if you dont fancy doing frogs, i wouldnt put a female in there, he would most likely just pester her to death. instead you could try 3 or 4 neons.
