My Dwarf Blue Gourami is starting to chase the other fish relentlessly, especially my platys. Is it time to put him into a 1-gallon to give him a taste of humility, or just let nature decide?

I would keep an eye on it. If he is only chasing them, it isn't always a problem. If he starts nipping at them, then it is a problem, and you should move him out. I wouldn't recommend another gourami, they will generally fight other males of their own kind, even if it's a different variety.

Lotus, I agree...when I got him he was one of two, and I immediately brought the other one back to the store. They attacked eachother ferociously, it wasn't even briefly entertaining to watch....

I wonder how 20 of them get along at the petstore, though. Are they just too crowded to even be able to think about territories?
