dwarf gourami

Hello - This past week, one of my male dwarf gourami developed what looked somewhat like water-blisters on his body - just one or two on each side. They looked more like perhaps he had gotten a bit rough with the female in the tank and she had nipped him, rather than his being diseased... but this morning, found him dead in the tank.

The female has shown no signs of this, nor have the corydoras aeneus that shared the tank. I am thinking of moving the female into another tank with another pair of dwarfs, but don't want to introduce anything into that tank.

Since I have not been keeping gourami long (formerly a cichlids-only kind of guy) I am not sure what this male may have had - does anyone with perhaps more experience with gourami have any thoughts? Also, how long should I observe the female (to ensure she is still not showing any sign of disease) before I introduce her to the new tank?

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Pierce

If the othe two fish in the tank are doing alright you might want to try a large water change and then dose with Melafix as a preventative and consider the fish in the tank to be under quarenteen for at least 10 days to make sure they don't have any symptoms show up?

I'm not sure if that's nessesarily the best thing to do but it's what I would do.

Need some more info on the set up you had there. It could have just been aggression if the tank is too small for two gourami. Length of time the tank has been set up, size, and other tank inhabitants would help. I would keep the fish in the same tank it's in for at least 14 days.
