Hey guys and gals.

I know there are plenty of questions and cure regarding Ich... but a new one never hurts right? So here goes. I think that my tank came down with the case of it.
History:

Relatively new aquariast
55 Gallon
Properly cycled
Nitrite/Nitrate/Ammonia levels fine
15 Neon Tetras
6 Black Neon Tetras
8 Zebra Danios
1 Swordtail
2 Marigolds
3 Bala Sharks
2 Clown Loaches
5 Mystery Snails
1 African Dwarf frog

Regular water changes, 10-15%
25% change done monthly
Vacuum gravel with water changes.

Canister filter rated for 100 gallon tank
Heater
lights... everything I believe one needs.

So about two weeks ago I decided to feed blackworms to the fi elsh (namely bala sharks and loaches). soon after I did a 50% water change, vacuum and all. Today, about 10 days later I noticed several small white spots on on 2 of the neon tetras, almost looked like small air bubbles on their fins. Seemed odd so I looked it up and I am thinking Ich. There are several treatments for it, but the problem is that they aren't good for tetras and loaches. Thought about salt, but again.... loaches. Salt isn't good for gill-less fish, right?

I raised the temp, so I will try to get it around 86 or so over the next few days. Tank is aerated, and I'll probably install a power head and additional air line over the weekend... any other help you can offer would be great!

Thanks

Oh yeah... this is the other part. How do I treat it since it is also a planted tank. Do I have worry about the plants carrying the cysts? The plants are sensitive to salt.... right? Thanks again!

The heat will take care of any ich you have. Leave it at 86 for 14 whole days, even if it appears to go away, then slowly bring the temp back down and it will be gone. You shouldn't treat with meds or salt with the loaches and plants.

As a side note, you have some stocking problems with your tank. The frog doesn't really fit and may have a hard time getting food. Your tank is also a bit overstocked with the balas (they grow up to 12") and loaches.
