effects on snail from medication?

hey all, friends of mine have a black mystery snail
their fish got ick.. and have been medicating accordingly as well as water changes, etc....

the snail seems to have left a black mark of where it set on the glass for at least 2 or 3 hours and seems to have left a spot of crud on the glass... Could this medication have a negative effect on the snails???

in the upper right hand corner... thats what the snail left behind... possible egg clutches or what?
