Eheim 2026 Pro Problems

I have recently replaced my 2 Magnums HOT filters with an Eheim 2026 Pro and when i am trying to prime the filter for the first time, it is supposed to fill the canister with water. I have repeatedly pushed the primer and when i plug it in it just grinds. Its set up properly and I cant think of anything wrong with it Except it will NOT prime properly unless i have to push the primer button 200 times. Anyone have any similiar prolbems with this part of the filter the first time you hooked it up? thanks in advance.

i have the same problem with the 2028. the intake will sort of "vapor lock" and the pump will not create enough suction to prime the canister....you have to do the old suck on the end of the hose method unfortunately.

aside from that happening occasionally, they are a flawless filter.

even a dry fluval needs pumping like a maniac to get it to fill - twas ever thus (never had to suck on one tho - yuk)

Thanks for the info guys. I figured it out though, I didn't have the locking mechanism in all the way, it was about a millimeter away from where it needed to be. I love this filter already.
