I'm about to replace a cannister filter is a 30 gal freshwater tank. I'm considering the Eheim 2026. I know that this filter has a flow rate that will support much larger tanks, however, this filter has has many good reviews and has a lot of good features, such as priming and the flow meter.

I know that the flow is adjustable . . I just don't know if it can be turned down enough for a 30 gal without stressing the pump. In the alternative, I can go with an Eheim 2222 or 2224, but I really like the flow meter.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, and have a great holiday!!!

I guess this all depends on the gallon per hour rating on the Eheim... I had an aquaclear 300 on a 33 gallon which would theoretically move 300 gallons per hour at full strength. the fish didn't seem to mind (tetras etc). Do you know the specs on the 2026. I suppose I could look at the web site... no , it's not listed.
