i think that would be too much, I dont think they intake or even the spray bar would fit into the tank, for the ten gallon you could just use a like penguine or aquaclear or something like that, I thin the eheim would be a bit much

I am already using an AC200 and the Penguin Mini knockoff made by Regent. But I have to cover the intake tubes with panty hose to prevent sand getting sucked up into the filter. The sand has already ruined a few impellers. Well, the pantyhose is impeding waterflow. So, I am researching cannisters.

I was figuring that the design of a canister would be the answer to my impeller/sand problems. My understanding is that any debris (waste or sand) is trapped by the media before it passes on to the impeller (if a cannister uses an impeller). This would trap any sand before it was passed to the impeller. I was hoping that a smaller canister might work on a 10g with a couple of shell dwellers.

Looks like I may need to do something else.
