eheim 2215

Hi everybody

i just bought a used eheim 2215 but i'm not too sure how to get it started??? am i suppose to fill it with tank water first or what? please help me out, thanks.

The main thing would be to get the thing started which i had trouble with on my 2013.. You could fill it with tank water if you want but then you may have to fill the tank up with tap water if it gets to low. So my suggestion just add treated or untreated tap water.

Next would be trying to get the siphon or suction or whatever started. If you have the eheim priming aid great, not a necessity by any means. You can go out get a little vacuum pump or rely on your lungs to do the trick. Just suck on the return hose to your tank with the filter on this way itll catch and get the water pumping. There should be a noticeable sound when its runnig dry and also one when it actually starts pumping so it should give you enough time to get the hose out of your mouth and back into the tank. Then just attach it to the part with the holes where water comes out of and your set.

thanks alot for the help. i did what you said, and it worked, though i did get a little tank water in my mouth.
but the filter is running great and my water is crystal clear. um...i have another question though, how do i get rid of the air bubbles at the top of the filter? is it ok to leave them there?
