eheim 2228

thinking about buying an eheim 2228 from a friend (no media, no hoses) for $70.....anyone have this filter ? I'm currently using a Fluval 304 on a 40 gallon tank (good filter but horrible on maintainance).....would the eheim be better ? I'm aware that eheim is phasing this model out but it dosent seem like a bad deal to me. thanks for any input

I have 2 of the Eheim 2224 not the same model but similar I believe.

I have a fluval 204.

The eheim unit is heaps better media cannister wise! Much easier to maintain.

The self closing taps and piping is much better IMO.

The media baskets have handles and you just life them out and rinse as needed and replace the filter pads.

I got my 2x 2224s with media for $100US from some guy who was doing a clean out!!!

Bargain of the century!

I love eheim but can't afford it new.
