ELECTRIC BLUE DEMPSY'S

I just picked up 3 of these little bad boys. They have to be one of the coolest freshwater fish out. The blue is so bright it almost looks like a marine fish. *thumbsups

Im going back to the fish store to get a couple pairs of killifishes today. they just got in some guenther's nothobranch. also a hard to come about fish.

they also have zebra plecos in stock but at 120 dollars a fish im gonna have to hold off til they restock if they do. *thumbsdow

I saw some of those Dempseys today, and yes they are very nice looking fish...Congrats!

ive never seen an electric blue dempsey(but then again is anyone really surprised?) but i like my dempseys color, so i know id like an electric blue one hehehe

120 for a zebra pleco lol, i can get them for 30, id keep an eye on aquabid and see how much they go for on them

nope, i live near peterborough, i was just in pickering, doing a little shopping, my GF wanted me to buy an electric blue, but i was like, NO, i don't have the room for them.

Nice fish.........not many people know how these came about.

I personally think they are either dyed or hybrid.

Well the story i was told is that the breeder noticed that some of his hatchlings were of different colors ... figured out the were a mutation of color. And is only now begun to breed them. These ones grow slower than the regular dempsey and arent aggressive.

i don't believe that they are less agressive, if they're jack dempsey's then they are going to be mean fish! they are likely dyed in some form or another.

Everything ive read on the net or anyone i have talked to who work at fish stores have told me otherwise.

Everything I've ever seen also suggests they're just a JD mutation revealing some recessive genes. The recessie genes are exhibiting the colour, less aggression , growth and health. No real basis to any stories of mutations or dying
