Would electrical tape be safe underwater? I want to use it to cover my silicon airtube to make it a little less viewable. Do you think this will work and if not any other methods? Thanks

my fish store sells lots of inexpensive (<2-3$) thermometers. you could probably get one of those and just use it's suction cups.

I am not sure I understand...

The goal is to hide an airtube - to an airstone, perhaps?
And you were thinking of using black electical tape to cover it - to make it less noticable?
I wouldn't use tape - I'm pretty sure that the adhesive would not to be a healthy thing to have in the water.

Here are a few things I have tried in the past to try to hide air tubing:

I tried the green / fake plant tubing. The tube is green and there are artificial leaves on it. To me it actually looked worse than the clear tubing.

I have tied an aitstone to a piece of rock, and then used it behind other decorations. That way I was able to run the weighted tubing perfectly down the corner of the tank - it was hardly noticable - really.

And then you always could try tying it to the back of some driftwood - use brown thread.

But I would think twice about the tape. Then again - maybe I didn't understand what you are trying to do. Could you explain a bit more?

"Hum, I read you can pait aquarium ornaments with acrylics.Let it cure for a week or so and it should be safe. (ive never done this so I don't know.)"

Umm, just my two cents, but I have worked with acrylic paints, and most are non-toxic, but water-soluble. Therefore in the tank it could dissolve and come off, unless is were on a porous surface, which the tubing is not. Besides, acrylic tends to peel when its on nonporous surfaces, especially flexible ones.
