Elephantnose and Black Ghost Knife?

Can an Elephantnose go with a black ghost knife? I'm thinking about getting one for when I upgrade to a 55 gallon, and I wanna know If they can go together.

I dont think black ghost knifes can fit in a 55g, i've seen some that are over a foot long in this huge tank in my lfs.

Well I might be getting a 70 gallon from a friend instead of the 55 gallon so I really just need to know if there compadible or not.

A major note on these types of fish: they "see" using electricity, if their is more than one in the tank, the may lose part of their ability as the waves from the one interfere with the waves of the other, so unless you have like a 200-300 gallon tank, i recommend only one or the other. Elephant noses emit electrical charges to map their surroundings. I am not sure if black ghost knives do this also, as I have no experience with these fish. I do know that elephant noses DO NOT like to be in close quarters with other electromagnetic fish. There's another word for it, but it eludes me at the moment. Electro-something or another.

Please read this before you buy an elephant nose. It is a fish profile on wetwebmedia, and it includes some VERY important Do's and Don't's about elephantnoses.

For instance, iron is bad for them. ANy planted tank owners dose iron out there? (Me for one)

Some south American knife fishes are also weakly electrogenic, as the article points out. You definitely woudn't want to put 2 electrogenic fish together in cramped quarters.

I didn't even know that there were such fish, or that they used electricity to map out their domain. Learn something new everyday.

i dont think they use it to map their domain but instead they use it to find food, but i could be wrong cause not too many people mention much about them cause they are pretty big fish and need quiete a large tank.

That would make sense as well. Something like bats using sonar to guide themselves as well as find food.
