Is there such thing as a short tailed male betta because I bought one from the store today. Its a bright blue colour. The had it labelled embrelle male betta. Is there such a thing? Can anyone give me information on this breed or maybe a web site?
Is there any sign of fin rot? Jagged edges, tore up fins? Here is a great Betta breeding site to get information from, they also breed some of the nicest looking bettas I have seen http://www.bettatalk.com/.
i have a short tailed male betta...he was labeled as a "twinlobe" betta at the LFS......hes just like a fighter-type betta which have short tails. unless you see any signs of fin rot, yours is probably a fighter-type betta like mine...i think embrelle bettas and twinlobe bettas are given the names "embrelle" and "twinlobe" just to make them sound cooler. they are probably the same or very close to fighter-types/short tails....this page on that website should help you identify which kind of betta you have http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_finnage.htm
Is there any chance that they had the fish labeled as Betta imbellis? This is the 'Peaceful Betta' that is definitely a shorter-finned species than the more commonly available selectively-bred Betta splendens.
