If it's going into a smaller tank, supplement its diet with algae pellets or wafers. I handfeed mine with a moist wafer and lower it with a skewer... the crab grabs it with its claws, pretty fun to watch.

As an eater of bubble algae, well, sometimes they will and sometimes they won't, from what I hear, although the two I've had have eaten bubble algae. I was about to write my newest crab off as a non-eater until this morning when I noticed all of my valonia sp. was gone.

Emerald crabs also eat pieces of shrimp and other meaty foods, but I believe algae is their staple food.

EDIT Whoa, timing's off... I posted after shwinicus

nah, the emeralds are pretty peaceful, except to each other. your dusters and shrimp should be be fine. I have read that very small fish could be targets for it, but I've never seen that happen. they eat bubble algae too!
