I just spent about 12HOURS working on a 30GALLON TALL. I mudded it down, and planted it, then put a layer of sand on top about 1/4CM thick. I had set it on top of a board on top of a dresser cuz the dresser wasn't level. I had it set this way all year, and just redid the entire tank today, and just finished. when i finished i realized the front middle right of the board concaved. I can fit pennies into the gap, so I did for the extra support. Is my tank in danger?? Do you think it can hold for 10HOURS without breaking or leaking?? I have 2BROKEN legs, and did this all by myself. My legs have metal implants which allow me to walk, and i'm so exhausted, and in so much pain, I don't think i can continue any further. I need to rest, before I drain it, and level it back out the way it was. Will it hold long enough for me to sleep?? The gap is about 6 inches wide and there other even smaller gaps cuz the board is warped. but the big gap I filled with pennies which were hard to set in, but I put them in there for the extra support please help. I need to know if I'm gonna have to break it down again, cuz at this point I can barely move, and will need to take more percocet, and try and drain it. 8(

I would think it would be fine for a few hours to rest. my 55 has been on an old consol stereo with a turn table and 8track in it for about 6 years or so now and the 2 ends span the lid which is lower then the ends. so only the very ends of the tank are supported. i would think that 3 gallon should be fine especially since u shimmed it with the pennies.

I am curious and asking if u don't mind, how did u break both of your legs?

also i noticed that u said u had mudded the tank, good choice i believe for a planted tnak but a quarter cm of sand seems realy thin. i recomment at least half an inch as a bare minimum. an inch is about ideal. so if possible i would add some more.

I was hiking and fell off a 60FOOT cliff. I shattered both legs, feet, ankles/heels, left arm, and my spine. I was in this hospitol for 3MONTHS, in a body cast for 4.5MONTHS, and in a wheelchair for a year. I just learned how to walk again, about a year ago. I'm still pretty banged up. had all my limbs reconstructed with metal, and have pain management, and physical therapy all the time now. taking on a 30GALLON tank alone is no small task. It really works me out. This is about my 3rd mudded tank I've done. Some of them I don't even put sand on them. I got a perfect little 10GALLON mud with no sand just mud. plants grow insane in there. I can breed anything i put in there even fish. I plan to eventually go mud on all 6 of my tanks. The foliage is so thick in my 10GALLON mud there's no need for a sand cover. The plants did it just fine. I'm hoping I can get the microswords to make a carpet on the one i just did today.

I called a friend who said moisten the board a bit, and it will go straight in a couple of days. the board was already damp from me working on it, so i'm gonna let it sit for a while, and see if it works out like he says. So you're saying your 55 is only supported on the ends?? can you slide stuff under the rim?? this tank isn't long it's tall. The gap is small, but still i'm scared. I've never gapped before. I always double check for flat surfaces, but this time, I didn't notice untill I finished the tank. If yall say it will probably hold, then i'm gonna take yalls word for it, cuz for now I'm in just to much pain to get up, and drain it. My feet are on fire. I can level it tomorrow. if the board goes straight I'll leave it like that. I just don't want it to leak or crack. I have this fear of my tanks braking all the time. 30GALLONS is a lot of water, and if it starts leaking, I'll have to buy another one, not easy when you can't work, cuz you're body is so badly damaged. 8(

I can slide at least a sheet or 2 of paper under the center of my 55. its not a large gap but its still not touching anything. I also noticed the stand for my 20 gallon is made that way as well. just 2 boards supporting the ends of the tank.

and I have a green sunfish in one tank. the fish in my pic was a pumpkin seed in its vibrant spawning colors. I've thought about getting rid of my green sunfish and put a couple pumpkin seeds there.

I have a 60 gal sitting on a stand made for 60 gal tanks, with 2-4 " of sand depending on how the oscar, and parrot's think it needs to be arranged each day. I can fit 2 sheets of paper under the center of the tank most days.

I have a 30 gal tall half round, it's stand is solid, but it's glass is thicker than the 60 gal, guessing your's is probably quite thick also. I'd wager that the tank will be fine.
