Trap I set in a local 'lake' was empty this morning (bait still intact).
Took a walk along the dam, flipped some rocks, then found a nice O. neglectus male. A few minutes (and a few more flipped rocks) later, I found a nice O. neglectus female. Bonus is that they're of similar size, and both have intact claws and no missing legs. I caught them by hand.

(male: left; female: right)

Didn't take long for the male to get busy...

He had a heck of a time trying to get this female to cooperate.
This is as far as he got---never did manage to unfold her tail in order to get in there and deposit his sperm:

Aside from supervised mating times, I'll be keeping them in separate tanks (pics coming soon).
Ultimately my goal will be to raise their broods to use as feeders for my oscar.

Hmmmm, It would appear that you don't even need a tank to breed things....I mean c'mon I have fish that haven't bred in 6 months or more, and yours attempt to breed in the bucket on the way home LOL

LMAO...you're right, there's definitely a 'love trend' happening with all my aquatic critters. Not sure why or how, but I can't complain. I must have had a horse-shoe up my a_ss yesterday to have found such a nice catch!
