so apparently I've angered the algae gods or something cuz I cannot seem to beat off the algae in my 75G tank.
the problem started small, and I was containing it pretty well (just green hair and brown algae).
but in the last week or 2, my tank has basically turned black and green. I've gotten rid of pretty mush every type of algae that was in the tank except for the dreaded black beard algae.......
now its suffocating my tank and has caused a major algae bloom to occur inthe water as well....
what would you guys suggest my next course of action be?
the info:
75 G tank, medium planting in the tank
laterite in the substrate
4 x 40W, T12 daylight flourescents
lights are on 12-14 hours daily
injecting co2 (one 2L bottle of injection)
using flourish fertilizer weekly (3ml)
should I rip all the plants out, kill the lights and the co2 and try to kill the algae?
or should I use more co2, continue ferts. and lights, adding prayer to the mixture!
or should I add even more plants and increase the co2, maintain the lights and ferts....
any opinions would be welcome....
btw, I used AlgaeFix to get rid of the green hair, green and brown algae that I had. that seemed to spark the growth of the black beard algae.......
