The reason I ask is this. My friend has a 35 gallon with 3 african cichlids, not sure of the exact ones, and a tiger barb. He never cycled the tank(yeah.....I know) and right now his ammonia is at 8ppm and probably more. He's had the fish in there for about a month and this ammonia has been high for a few days. Are these fish doomed or can they survive this huge spike? If not, can something be done? Thank you.
