Extra Tank Q

If you have a smaller tank that is cycled, but want to take the fish out of there and introduce it to the other tank, and make the smaller tank a hospital tank, how long will the tank remain cycled? Will removing all fish from a completly cycled tank and having an empty tank make it no longer cycled after awhile?

im pretty sure that if there isnt a continuous supply of ammonia then the cycling will start itself over, am i wrong? or is it okay to have an empty tank?

I think there was a post in the freshwater beginner section on this. Can't remember if its okay to just leave it be...but if you wanted to keep it cycled just add a little bottled ammonia every day. Just make sure its pure ammonia, with nothing added (perfumes, etc). You could just search the forums and find the post and check it for more proper info.
