Just picked some up for my oscar's tank.
Thing is, they float---which is great---but it means I can't see the tops of them (the pretty part containing the flowers).

Question is---how can I get them suspended part way down into the water column (i.e. in 'mid-water') without using the fishing line and weights (probably lead  ) that came with them? (it needs to be oscar-safe)

Here's a shot of the undersides of the lilly pads, in case that helps.

Just to clarify...
I want them to be about mid-way up (or higher) the water-column in such a way that allows me to see the tops of them and also allows Triton to swim underneath of them.

I was thinking maybe green airline tubing, but the standard-sized tubing is too large to fit snugly over top of the plastic 'nub' on the underside of the pads. What would be the best way to weigh them down enough so that they don't float up to the top? (I'd rather not add rocks, because I'm trying to displace as little amount of water as possible)

I'm sure I'll eventually rig something up on my own, but does anyone have any suggestions in the meantime?
