I know, I'm not soulfish, but, would like to add up here anyway. It would depend what kind of cichlids you would like to do. For instance, if you wanted african cichlids, you would want lots of rock sturctures built out of slate and lace rock to form caves. You would also like a high ph, or around 8.0. If you wanted sa cichlids, you should conister heavily planting it and keeping the ph around 6.0-6.5

id ay teh best options for the tank would be a nice group of shellies, multies or ocellatus would be nice, a pair of julidochromis would also work, dwarf south american apistos would be ok, shellies would be the best, theyll love the sand, maybe 8 then some danios or rainbows to take up the the top of the tank, they have loads of persoanlity, really are great fish you wont regret it
